If you should decide to be initiated, you’re going to be entering into a great mystery. You’re going to be born into a new Family. Through symbol, you’re going to die to your present way of life. So, let’s look at the dictionary definition of initiation:
INITIATE -- 1. To begin; commence; originate. 2. To admit to membership in an organization, fraternity, cult, etc., usually special rites and the imparting of secret knowledge. 3. To instruct in fundamentals or rudiments. And, so, you do begin, you commence, and you are admitted into a way of life that is very different from the ways of the world. You will still walk in that world, but now, you’ll see it all with different eyes. Above, we mentioned a great mystery. It’s true. There is a great mystery that you’ll be learning about. Indeed, this mystery is expressed in the Two Great Laws. These two laws, or principles, are the foundation of our Teachings. There would be no Magick without the existence of these two principles. This is what you’ll be learning about: how to use those two laws to create Magick. The First Great Law is: There is only ONE BEING that exists, that is the Boundless, and you are THAT!!! The Second Great Law is: Merging is a process in which our Awareness reaches a level of Synchronicity with the Ground of Being. The dictionary says that one who is initiated will study the fundamentals or rudiments. These two principles are truly the foundations of our Teachings. If you apply yourself, and work hard, you’ll come to understand what this is all about. Here is some advice that you’ll find useful when you’ve become a member: 1. Every member is expected to bring something for the ritual Feast. 2. You’ll be greeted with a cup of wine, and the greeter will say, "Merry Meet, and Merry Part!" You’ll say in reply, "Perfect Love, and Perfect Peace!" 3. During the Feast, we toast the gods and goddesses. It’s always wise to toast one’s own patron as soon as possible. Please note, however, if you can’t drink wine, then please bring a beverage that you can use for toasting. Grape juice is a good substitute. 4. During the Feast we also tell god-stories, do play-ploys, play the Truth Game, and many other things besides. However, one is expected to be focused on the Ritual Feast and nothing else. One is expected to avoid having a personal, or private, chat with anyone while the Feast is in progress. 5. Here is an important point: one is expected to call their Teacher to set times for their classes. The Teacher won’t be calling you -- it’s your responsibility. 6. You are expected to ask questions. The only bad question is the one you didn’t ask! 7. Remember above where we mentioned that you’ll learn about the two great principles if you apply yourself, and work hard? This applies to your relationship with your Teacher, too. If you work hard to do your lessons, then your Teacher will work even harder on your behalf, but if you really don’t apply yourself, and turn in nothing, then, that’s what you’ll get in return: nothing. Self-responsibility is one of the Four Great Keys, and you are expected to learn to manifest that in all your work. 8. You are going to become a member of a Great Family. This Family is composed of all your Sisters and Brothers in the College, and all of our gods and goddesses are as your mothers and fathers, and your brothers and sisters. In time you’ll come to see how very important this is to your life. 9. We, your sisters and brothers, your mothers and fathers, are here to help you. However, we won’t lift a hand to help a person who doesn’t make a true effort to help themselves. We will gladly help you help yourself. We wish you well in this Adventure that you’re starting out on. It IS an adventure: it is a quest. You’ll learn how to do real magick, and meet awesome gods and goddesses on this Path. Wisdom, Self-honesty, Self-responsibility, and Love, are the FOUR GREAT KEYS that will be very important on this Quest. We welcome you! |
